June 29, 2003, has become a very important date in Palmer Township. This was the date that the long awaited plans for the township community center were unveiled. Also, just as important was the announcement that Mr. Charles Chrin, President of The Charles Chrin Companies, will donate the 35 acres of land the center will be built on, provide excavation services and funds worth more than $2.8 million. In recognition of Mr. Chrin's extraordinary contribution, the facility will be named after him as noted in the above logo. As a long time resident of the township Mr. Chrin stated "It's important that we all contribute to the well being of our neighbors". He also stated "Doing things for one another builds a strong sense of community. And that's one of the things that makes Palmer Township a special place to live. The residents of Palmer Township warmly thank Mr. Chrin for this very generous contribution.

The plan unveiling and facility naming ceremony was held at the Palmer Township Athletic Complex at the Palmer School with approximately 300 people attending. This event was the also the kick-off of the capital campaign to raise money for the completion of the $6.5 million facility and surrounding land. The Palmer Board of Supervisors have allocated $2.5 million from previous borrowing, leaving about $1.2 million to be raised from businesses, organizations and individuals in the community. Messes. J. Lee Boucher and Bob Young are co-chairs of the capital campaign steering committee. The mission statement the committee has developed to guide this project is very complete and covers a wide range of what this project is about.

The community center will be 36,000 sq. ft. in size and will located on a 35 acre tract adjacent to and west of the existing athletic complex. By clicking here you can view a number of pages that provide additional information about the center and future plans for the tract. The graphics on these pages were prepared by the township engineer The Pidcock Company. Because the pictures had to be reduced to fit the web page some of the detail resolution has been reduced.

As mentioned above, the Capital Campaign Steering Committee needs to raise $1.2 million from business, organizations and individuals within the community. This will be a community center and we need the help of the community to make it happen. Please make your tax deductible donation by filling out the attached donation sheet, print it out and send it to the address noted on the sheet.

In the future we will provide monthly updates on this web site to report on the progress of the capital fund raising campaign and when the design and building phase begins we will report on it's progress.
