Township EAC – Meeting Minutes
Environmental Steering Committee
June 24, 2009 (REV 8-5-09)
Attendees:
Meeting opened: 7:04 PM
Guests: Steve Tomsic (Mascaro Hauling): Steve was
present to present the Mascaro Hauling report.
Approval of Minutes: 1)
May 27, 2009 minutes were approved unanimously.
Brief discussion between Committee
members regarding the renewal of Mascaro’s future hauling contract and their
representation.
Hauler Report: 1) Steve Tomsic offered the monthly hauling report from Mascaro.
Recycling Coordinator Report: Cindy O. briefed the Committee with
regard to her activities during the past 2 months.
Old Business:
Palmer Days Community event discussions:
Community Days Subcommittee report -

Cindy O. discussed the presentation to be prepared for
mentioning businesses and residents who are outstanding in their contributions
to the recycling and environmental efforts of the Township. The

Terry Cooper will prepare a presentation for Environmental
Steering Committee

Tom G. will acquire the native plantings to be
raffled. Tom G. will also research
prices for the lawnmower to be raffled.

Cindy O. mentioned the cell phones for soldiers recycling campaign. Received a very positive response from the
Committee.
5.
Will offer free lollypops with Township recycling slogans
on them, to the public.
New Business:
Recycling & Trash Hauling Contract
Renewal:
Tom G. suggests forming a subcommittee to
rewrite the contract.
Cindy O. offered discussions regarding
informing the public of contractual changes during the process of rewriting it.
Cindy also mentioned the scheduling necessary to apply for government grants to
fund the new contract.
Bob L. stresses the marketing strategy
for informing the public and the necessity of new marketing ideas such as
education, flyers, Township website, etc.
ESC agrees to form a subcommittee at the
September 2009 meeting to rewrite the contract.
Additional business:
Cindy O. discussed using a “survey
monkey” on the Township web site to receive input regarding recycling issues
from the public.
Adjournment: 8:10pm motion to adjourn meeting.
Next Meeting: The next meeting
is scheduled for July 22, 2009 at 7:00 PM at the
