Palmer Township EAC – Meeting Minutes
Environmental Steering Committee
March 24, 2010
Attendees: Tom Ganssle, John Orlock, Chris Briglia, Dave
Sciascia, Denise Veres, Cindy Oatis, Rob Reese, John Balas, Bob Lammi
Meeting opened: 7:04 PM
Approval of Minutes: 1)
February 24, 2010 minutes were approved unanimously with no revisions.
Guests: Robert Natkie (Mascaro Hauling);
Hauler Report: 1) Robert Natkie (RN) was present and also had the following comments
and/or suggestions:
1.
Rob briefed the ESC regarding
pick-up & recycling.
2.
The committee discussed the use
of the toter system for collecting trash and recycling in the Township and the
practical size of the toters.
Recycling Coordinator Report: Cindy Oatis was present and also had the following
comments and/or suggestions:
1.
An outing is being scheduled for
80 children at the recycling center in late April. Cindy O. needs volunteer assistance with the
children. Cindy O. will establish a firm
date for the tour.
2.
The committee discussed the paper
shredding event and the cost. Briglia
Consulting Engineers and Cartridge World agreed to donate money towards the
event. Cindy O. mentioned that the
Spring or Summer of 2011 would be better for the event rather than January or
February 2011. Bob Lammi suggested that
we consider holding the paper shredding along with the ecycling event this
year. The committee agreed that there
were some logistical concerns and that we should find out how much space is
needed for both events and whether or not any other events are scheduled for
May 15, 2010.
Old Business:
1.
No recent updates for the
recycling center expansion plan. There
are a couple different layouts and circulation plans.
New Business:
1.
Discussion regarding the Tree
Vitalize program. Tom G. set a date for April 10, 2010 for the planting of the
trees. The time is set from 8:00am - 2:00pm and the tree tenders will be
there. At least 20 volunteers are
needed.
Announcements: (1) Bob Lammi mentioned that the Township
received a large family donation for the bike path extension. (2) Rob R. mentioned that a river/stream
cleanup is being scheduled during Earth Week and he will advise the committee
of the date and time.

Next Meeting: The next meeting
is scheduled for April 28, 2010 at 7:00 PM at the
