Environmental Steering Committee
May 26, 2010 (Rev. June 29, 2010)
Attendees: Tom Ganssle, Chris Briglia, Cindy Oatis, Rob Reese, Bob
Lammi, Terry Cooper
Meeting opened: 7:02 PM
Approval of Minutes: 1)
April 28, 2010 minutes were approved unanimously with one revision.
Guests: Rob N. (Mascaro Hauling)
Hauler Report: 1) Rob was present and also had the following comments and/or suggestions:
1.
Rob briefed the ESC regarding misc.
pick-up & recycling complaints.
2.
Cindy O. inquired about the possibility
of splitting the tonnage report numbers for cardboard & paper. Rob N. advised that it would be difficult and
the numbers would not be accurate.
3.
Rob N. offered to provide
information about what happens to recycled material for the Palmer Days Event.
Recycling Coordinator Report: Cindy Oatis was present and also had the following
comments and/or suggestions:
1.
Cindy O. (CO) discussed the
results of the ecycling and paper shredding events with the committee. 6000 LBS of paper was shredded. Scheduling for the paper shredding event was
discussed briefly. Ecycling tonnage
report was discussed briefly.
Old Business:
1.
Rob R. followed up on the person
who dumped unacceptable material at the compost site. Rob R. found that the person was not fined
and this information was confirmed by Tom Adams.
2.
Rob R. discussed acquiring money
for stencils to mark storm water catch basins.
3.
Rob R. mentioned that there is a
native plant seminar planned at Rossalino's in October. Date to be set in the near future.
4.
Rob R. discussed the possibility
of ESC members being able to dump at the compost site for free. Bob L. and Tom G. said they would look into it.
New Business:
1.
ESC members held a brief
discussion regarding the Ecycling tonnage numbers and whether or not it should
be a bi-annual event.
2.
Community days ideas were
discussed briefly. Rob R. suggested that
we demonstrate a rain barrel.
