PALMER TOWNSHIP RECREATION BOARD

DECEMBER 21, 2010 

 

     The regular meeting of the Palmer Township Recreation Board was held on Tuesday, December 21 at 7:30 p.m. with the following in attendance:  Chairman Marc Knox, Vice Chairman Jeff Young, Secretary Bill Webb, Treasurer Cheryl Nielsen, and members Bob Walker and Bob       Johnson.

 

MINUTES OF NOVEMBER—On a motion by Webb and seconded by Young, and agreed by all the minutes of the November meeting were approved as written.

 

     TREASURER’S REPORT—Treasurer was having computer program problems; therefore a report could not be generated.  She agrees with the township report ending the month of November.  Please check that report.

It was emailed to all.  A full report will be given next month.

 

     ADULT RECREATION—Adult Soccer League—Suggested by Knox, the group not be allowed to use the field next year. Reason—overuse of the fields and beer cans were found at the field by a Rec Board member.

 

     BUDGET—Webb asked if the CCCC was getting the wrestling mat rack ?  Yes, it is still in the budget.

 

     BASKETBALL--    Discussion was held on tournaments. On a motion by Walker, seconded by Young and agreed by all—Fees for the tournament teams should be paid by the coaches or parents.  They may use Palmer Township uniforms and equipment—but it must be turned in after the tournament is over or at the end of the season.

 

     SOCCER—Six uniforms were not returned.  Wrestling and basketball will be notified and the children will not be allowed to participate until their uniform is returned.

 

     BASEBALL—Pitching machines were found in the utility shed at Fairview.  They do require repair, they should be ready for baseball and softball season.

 

     MAINTENANCE—Our Supervisor Liaison Bob Smith reported the Athletic Association has pledged $10,000 for 2010 and $10,000 for 2011 for football field improvements.  The remainder will be paid for by the Township    Well is in for field improvements.  Possibility of the pole building being built over the winter.  Fox Run bathrooms and storage area are in the 2011 budget and possibly parking lot improvements.  Looking at lower Fox Run a possible site as a dog park. The bike path must be finished by the Children’s Home—it was included in the grant.

 

     COMMUNITY CENTER—A meeting was held between Jill Liskey, Jeff Young and Bob Smith, and Laura Bryfogle about the availability of gym time for basketball.  All space is now being used.  Requests must be sent in before the season starts and must be specific.  Hopefully it will improve for next year.

 

     OLD BUSINESS--  2-2-2 Committee will be reorganized in 2011.

According to a vote by the Supervisors--$10 of registration fee must be put in a capital improvement fund.  $5 of fee to CCCC,  $35 to PTAA.

 

     NEW BUSINESS—On a motion by Webb, seconded by Young and agreed by all, all tournament teams must come before the Recreation Board for approval to use the fields and equipment.

 

Election of Officers

 

On a motion by Knox, seconded by Walker and agreed by all Jeffery Young was elected Chairman.

 

On a motion by Knox, seconded by Young and agreed by all Bill Webb was elected Vice Chairman.

 

On a motion by Knox, seconded by Young and agreed by all Cheryl Nielsen was elected Secretary.

 

On a motion by know, seconded by Young and agreed by all Bob Johnson was elected Treasurer.

 

     Chairman Knox thanked Chris Mc Brairty(in abstenia) and Bob Walker for their service to the children of Palmer. Their time and talent, years of service and effort in athletic activities has been a tremendous asset to the township. They will be sorely missed.

 

     Chairman Knox thanked the board for their help in his two year term as Chairman.

 

     On a motion by Walker, seconded by Webb and agreed by all, the meeting was adjourned at 9:30.
