MINUTES OF ZONING HEARING BOARD MEETING

 

The zoning hearing board of Palmer Township met on Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at 7:30 P.M. in the Palmer Memorial Library, One Weller Place, to hear the following appeals.  In attendance were Nicholas Noel, Esq., zoning board solicitor, Cherie Kavanaugh, acting board chairperson, R. Margaret Kennedy, alternate filling in for Daniel Caravetta, John A. Embardino, zoning officer, and court reporter Ted Rewak.

 

A motion to accept the minutes of the March 7, 2006, hearings, as amended, was made by R. Margaret Kennedy, seconded by Cherie Kavanaugh, with all in favor.

 

06-15              7:30 p.m.  Theresa Scalzo, 2108 Newlins Mill Road, is seeking a special exception per section 190-38 C to construct an addition to her existing home in an MDR district, to be used as an accessory apartment unit for care of a relative pursuant to requirements of section 190-211 E (22).

WITNESS:  Theresa Scalzo.

A motion was made by R. Margaret Kennedy to approve the request for a unit for the care of a relative with the condition that the kitchen unit be dismantled upon no further need by the owners for the use as a unit for the care of a relative.  The motion was seconded by Cherie Kavanaugh with all in agreement.

06-16              7:40 p.m.  Ron Wismer, 182 Shelley Street, Easton, PA, representing, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Rodenbach, 3 Dusty Road, is seeking a special exception pursuant to section 190-38 C, to construct an addition to the existing home, located in an MDR district, to be used as an accessory apartment pursuant to requirements of 190-211 E (4), or in the alternative, a unit for the care of a relative pursuant to requirements of 190-211 E (22).

WITNESSES:  Ron Wismer, Anne Rodenbach, Thomas Wismer.

A motion was made by Cherie Kavanaugh and seconded by R. Margaret Kennedy to deny a conversion to an accessory apartment but to approve a unit for the care of a relative with the conditions that the kitchen unit be dismantled upon no further need for a unit for the care of a relative and an egress door to be moved from the front of the proposed unit to a side location and that the unit shall have no future rental as an apartment.  All were in agreement.

        

   Having no further business to discuss, the hearing was adjourned
