MINUTES OF ZONING HEARING BOARD MEETING

 

The zoning hearing board of Palmer Township met on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at 7:30 P.M. in the Palmer Memorial Library, One Weller Place, to hear the following appeals.  In attendance Nicholas Noel III, Esq., zoning board solicitor, Charles Roseberry, board chairman, Cherie Kavanaugh board member, and Alternate Margaret Kennedy filling in for board member Dan Caravetta, James Raudenbush, zoning officer, and court reporter Ted Rewak. 

 

Cherie Kavanaugh made a motion to accept the minutes of the February 3, 2009, zoning hearings.  The motion was seconded by Margaret Kennedy, with all in agreement.

 

09-08 7:30 p.m. 1113 Whitney Avenue, Kevin Kocher, , is seeking a special exception pursuant to section 190-38 B, to operate a ceramic tile, contracting and remodeling business as a home occupation. He is also seeking a variance from sections 190.179C and 190-173 to have an identification sign on a vehicle in excess of two square feet. This property is located in a Medium Density Residential zoning district.

WITNESSES: Property owners Kevin Kocher and Joan Kocher, April Cordts, Esq. and Kira Altmann and Jeremy Kerr from 1107 Whitney Ave

ACTION:  Cherie Kavanaugh made a motion to approve the special exception for a home occupation as a ceramic tile, contracting, and remodeling business as a home occupation with the following conditions. The work truck that is in excess of the allowable vehicle weight in a residential zone, along with the signage on the work truck be removed. The dump trailer can stay as long as the signs continue to be covered. The motion was seconded by Margaret Kennedy, with all in agreement.

 

09-09 7:40 p.m.  Parcel K8-14-4 (Weston Retirement Center), Strausser Enterprises, is seeking a special exception under section 190-154 I (2) to allow parking in a floodplain. This property is located in a HDR-2 zoning district.

WITNESSES: None

ACTION: A written request was submitted by the applicant requesting a continuance of the hearing. The applicant waived the right to have the hearing within 60 days of receipt of the application under the MPC and the letter was read into the record. NO date was given for a new hearing, so nothing will be done until Mr. Strausser submits a request.

 

Having no further business to discuss, the hearing was adjourned.
