June 18, 2004 - Palmer Township Police Department along with the Bethlehem Health Bureau's Highway Safety Program held a bike derby at Fairview Park. The bike derby was a great success with approximately 60 children attending this event. Cindy Shoemaker from the Health Bureau's Highway Safety Program welcomed the children to the event and bike officers Tim Smith and Dave Brotzman gave a safety talk to the children. The bikes were then registered by the Palmer Police along with the help of the Palmer Playground Staff. The children then had their helmets fitted and were off to the bike derby course. The children had a great time and we received several compliments for sponsoring such an event. We would like to give a big thank you to Cindy Shoemaker and Jessica Mill from the Bethlehem Health Bureau and all the Palmer Playground staff for their help in making this event a success.
