Suburban Emergency Medical Service was chartered in June 1953. At that time Suburban was headquartered in the Palmer Fire Company on 27th St. in Palmer Township. At that time Suburban provided emergency medical service to Palmer Township, Wilson and West Easton. Headquartered on Freemansburg Ave Suburban EMS is a separate organization from any municipality it serves. Over the years Suburban has expanded to a large organization providing emergency and non-emergency transport in 20 municipalities, throughout Northampton and Monroe Counties. There coverage area is 197 square miles and estimated 115,000 residents. They have a combined total of 21 vehicles from ambulances to wheelchair vans and a Quick Response / Command Vehicle at their 4 stations in Northampton and Monroe Counties.
Suburban EMS has taken an active role in the communities they serve by giving back when they can. They are committed to supplying our communities with any EMS services, by participating in special events, performing demonstrations, youth educational programs, sporting events, health fairs, parades and Community Weekend. They schedule the maintenance of approximately 21 AED's (Automated External Defibrillator) used by Police, Fire and community facilities. They perform stand-by's for community functions and events, marathons and local community sporting events. They also provide CPR and First Aid and Safety training for Police; Fire; Office Personnel; Boy Scouts and other local organizations. It is important to them that they educate the youth on safety by contributing their knowledge and skills to children in public school safety programs. They are honored to be a valuable part of the communities They serve.
Their crews and volunteers participate in a number of Stand-by's throughout the year to assure quick medical response in case of an emergency at an event. Here's a list of some events where they were active on location.
