George Kinney Joins Palmer Township

George KinneyGeorge Kinney recently joined Palmer Township as its new Director of Planning and Zoning replacing Amanda Jensen who left the township to begin her own planning consulting firm.

George earned an undergraduate Bachelor Degree in Environmental Planning from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania in 1991. He later attended The Ohio State University where he earned a Masters Degree in City and Regional Planning. George began his planning career in the Franklin County Development Department in Ohio where he was involved in all aspects of regional planning. In 2000 George moved on to the City of Upper Arlington near Columbus, Ohio where he updated their comprehensive plan with a focus on urban design and mixed-use/town-center development. In 2003 George moved on to become Director of Planning of the Talbot County, Maryland Planning and Zoning Office where he focused on farmland preservation, smart growth and resource protection.

During he career he has won several awards for his innovative thinking in the field of planning. George is also a certified planner receiving certification from the American Institute of Certified Planners.

Palmer Township is please to have a person with this strong background leading its planning, zoning and code enforcement departments.
