The Pennsylvania State Association of Townships Supervisors (PSATS) is launching a service to help residents of second class townships understand their government and how it functions. It will also have information on the issues impacting townships both from the state and federal level. PSATS will send the township a newsletter every quarter and the contents of that newsletter will be published on this site. Articles can be read by clicking the links below.
March 5, 2007 - Pennsylvania State Planning Board Report In 2003 a major study was conducted by The Brookings Institution Center on Urban and Metropolitan Policy which led to the their report Back To Prosperity - A Competitive Agenda for Renewing Pennsylvania . The conclusions of this report have led to agreement in some circles and disagreement in others. Our Township Supervisor Bob Lammi has given several presentations about this report and the impact on the Lehigh Valley. Another fallout of this study, as reported in an article in the Pennsylvania Township News, is that "Gov. Ed Rendell brought the State Planning Board back to life in 2004 to look at development, conservation, and land use. He asked members to consider legislation that would improve the state’s economic outlook and citizens’ quality of life, and the board recently issued its recommendations in response. And while its report addresses transportation, infrastructure, and economic development, it focuses on municipal governance, a fact that is raising some questions among township officials." It is expected that citizens of the Commonwealth will be hearing more about this report in the future as the Board looks for public input. As an informational service to our residents we have obtained permission from the Pennsylvania State Association of Townships of Township Supervisors to publish this article on this website.
