The following information covers various aspects of the curbside recycling and waste pick-up program that the Environmental Steering Committee has developed.

Trash Pick-up

  • Place trash out the evening before your pick-up day
  • No tires, hazardous waste, liquid paint, or motor oil
  • One bulk item (sofa, mattress, etc.) per week
  • One container of construction material per week - 40 lb. limit

Curbside Recycling

The following items are acceptable for recycling:

  • No. 1 and No. 2 plastic containers (clean, discard lids and flatten)
  • Glass - green, brown and clear glass only (clean and discard lids)
  • Cans, aluminum and tin only. (clean and discard lids)
  • Newspapers - tie in 12 inch bundles or place in paper bags
  • Mixed Paper - Office paper, magazines, junk mail, phone books, etc. - tie in 12 bundles of place in paper bags.
  • Cardboard - flattened and bundled with twine (3 ft. x 3 ft. x 3 ft. maximum)

Yard Waste

Curbside Pick-up - There is a 5 container, bags or bundles (3 ft. x 1 ft.) per week - weight limit is 40 lbs. Grass clippings are discouraged.

Yard Waste Special Recycling Pick-up - During the weeks of May 5 - 9 and October 6 - 10. Place yard waste in brown paper bags or bundles (3' x 1'). Unlimited amount. No grass clippings or stumps.

Palmer's Yard Waste Drop-off Site - This site is now open on a limited basis and accepting brush, but no tree stumps or grass.  Click here for the schedule of operation.

Trash and Recycling Curbside Pick-up - 2008 Holiday Changes

Garbage and recycling will be picked up one day late on the following holiday:

  • May 26th - Memorial Day
  • July 4th - Independence Day
  • September 1st - Labor Day
  • November 27th - Thanksgiving Day
  • December 25th - Christmas Day
  • January 1, 2009 - New Years Day

2008 Christmas Tree Recycling

The trees will be pick-up the weeks of January 7th, 14th, 21st on your regular pick-up day.

Place your unbagged tree next to your trash on your regulary scheduled trash day. They will be picked up separately from your trash and recycling.

2008 White Goods Pick-up Program

White goods which includes appliances (remove refrigerator doors and freezer doors), hot water heaters and air conditioners, should be placed curbside on your regular trash day.  This service will be provided the week of:

March 3 through March 7

June 2 through June 6

September 1 through September 5
December 1 through December 5

Curbside Waste and Recycling Pick-up

The township wide program is managed by J. P. Mascaro & Sons who the township contracted with for curbside pick-up and disposal of residential waste.  The new quarterly billing rate, effective May 2, 2007, for curbside pickup in the township is $77.25.  This rate is for the entire duration of the contract, May 2, 2007 to May 1, 2012.
