Palmer Beautification Project (update 12/22/11)
Since
May, Dave Carr and his volunteers have made significant progress in making
the bike path along Fairview Park and heading west look special. Recently,
Dave and volunteers from the Northampton County Master Gardeners
planted 320 pounds of bulbs that will create a special look of the bike
path in the Spring. These bulbs were donated by Netherland Bulb
Company of Palmer Township and we thank them for helping to beautify
Palmer. We also thank the Master Gardeners and Dave for their special
work. Click here for more information
on this phase of the project.
Since the Board gave Dave Carr the go ahead to begin the Beautification Project the look of the bike path is changing. When you are walking the path and you see a work crew please stop and tell them how much you appreciate what they are doing because they are Making a Difference. You can also make a difference by picking up any trash that you see and bringing it to the nearest trash container.
The idea of a Palmer Beautification Project was presented on May 9, 2011 to The Palmer Township Board of Supervisors by Palmer resident David Carr. The Supervisors agreed that a volunteer group would be a welcome addition to the Palmer community and asked Mr. Carr to move the concept forward. Click here for more information. The Supervisors thanked Mr. Carr for his years of keeping the southern section of the bike path clean and his interest and involvement in this project.
Garden Dedication
On
a rainy afternoon many family and friends of the late Ted and Pat "Peggy
Lynn" Pierce joined township officials in dedicating the Pierce Memorial
Gardens at the Charles Chrin Community Center. A significant donation
from Mrs. Pierce allowed the construction of the garden, walkway, and
sitting areas along with perpetual maintenance. The township appreciates
that Mrs. Pierce chose Palmer Township for the location of her garden.
